Separation and Divorce Coaching
When separation has turned your world upside down and you’re struggling to find your way again, separation and divorce coaching can be a valuable tool. Coaching will provide you with support, encouragement, and advice - like tapping into the wisdom of an experienced guide on your journey. Coaching can save you time and money in assisting you to make decisions that align with your integrity and goals, improve your communication with the other parent, emotionally support your children and prepare for your mediation or Court process.
FAQ’s
-
Counselling is a therapeutic process that supports you to discuss and manage your emotional state and mental health. Coaching focuses on future goals, problem solving and upskilling – it is a forward focussed process, while counselling is often focused on past experience.
There will always be an element of emotional support in separation coaching, but the focus is on making plans for the future, to support yourself and your children through the journey of separation.
-
The process is custom made for you! Because every person’s situation is different, I will create a program that best supports your needs and priorities. This means that it looks a little different for every client, whether that involves how best to support your children as you share your Separation Story with them, how to best manage conflict and use constructive communication to manage arrangements with the other parent, or prepare for mediation or Court. No two programs are the same.

To give us the best chance of making good progress on your goals each time we meet, sessions are scheduled for 90 minutes. This gives us a chance to catch up on what has happened since our last meeting, cover some new material, and set goals for you to take away with you. I will follow up each meeting with an email to you summarising your goals so that you can check in on how you’re going.
I recommend that clients initially book a block of three sessions to start with, to ensure that there is time to make some progress, and then further sessions can be booked as needed. I am available for after hours and Saturday appointments.
-
As well as the 90 minute sessions, I will follow up with you by email after every session to summarise the goals and next steps that you have chosen to pursue between sessions. I will create a custom program for you to make the best use of your time.
I will not offer support as a counsellor – this is best obtained through someone who works in this space. We can discuss this if a referral is needed.
-
You can book a no charge initial phone consultation with me via our website. Once we have spoken and we have agreed that this process is right for you, you can book your initial appointment with me via my booking page. My preference is to start with a booking for three sessions to ensure that clients receive the full benefit from their program.
Coaching sessions are $250 per 90 minute session.

Melanie - I have been working for the last 10 years with separated families in the form of Family Dispute Resolution. I also have qualifications in psychology and counselling.
I am convinced that outcomes for families are better when parents have the support that they need to make considered decisions that align with their character and goals throughout their separation.
